The men of Highway 358 have chosen a different path  – the narrow path – the path of life less traveled. They know the journey will not be easy but the destination is, without question, the ultimate end. They are traveling the one, true highway, the Highway of Holiness. Their desire is to use the music God has put on their hearts to draw others to the highway and forever change their lives with the love of Christ.

In their songs you will hear a variety of styles that span the last 30 years including modern pop melodies, soaring rock ‘n roll leads, classic blues licks all supported by a solid beat and layered with rich vocal harmonies for the purpose of worshipping the Creator of the universe. The result is something different than anything on the radio today, resonant of the vintage tones of the past but with a modern sound that goes well beyond the walls of the church and relevant to current times.

Awesome time at the Summerset Festival 2011. The weather was great with a cool breeze and people were having a great time with food, friends and music.

Imagine being stranded on a deserted island with no chance of being found.  Months pass before you come to the realization that you have been written off and no one is coming to save you.   Every evening you stand on the shore, look out across the ocean and survey the horizon to the lonely sound of the surf and imagine yourself adrift in the distance headed home or anywhere but here.   As each night passes you wonder if you just had the courage to build such a humble craft whether it would be possible to escape a castaways fate.  You have the resources on the island and even a detailed plan drawn up mentally.  You see, you have built this craft and made the trip in your mind too many times to count, yet each night passes and you remain on the island unwilling to take the risk.   Finally, one day fear gives way to desperation and you decide that life is not worth living this way any longer.  As you pull away from shore you hear a faint laugh in the wind mock your intentions and despite the chill you feel inside, your heart is filled with exhilaration and expectations of freedom.  As you drift away from the shore into the deep blue sea, you let out the ragged sail you built from the shirt on your back and you set your sites on the horizons edge never to look back.

This is the scenario in the song ‘Departure’, the title cut to our new CD.  The story of the castaway has been played out in the movies many times and we are all too familiar with it – maybe too familiar to recognize that many of us or someone we know is living out this screen play in real life.  If you have ever had an unfulfilled dream but felt trapped in the situation you are in now you may be able to relate to the castaway.  Whatever your condition, you wish you had the courage to take the risk and finally embrace the change required to live out the dreams you have imagined so many times.  Some of us have even taken the first step but the storms are greater than we expected and we go back to where we know we can survive.  Unfortunately, dreams are rarely achieved without the pain of change and sometimes all must be sacrificed to reach that distant, yet plentiful shore you envisioned.  Unfortunately, most will never embark on such a journey but if you do, we believe the song ‘Departure’ is will be an encouragement as you let out your sail of faith toward your dreams.
