Lead Guitar

Roger developed a passion and love for music growing up in Denver during the 1970′s. Many different styles captured his imagination but it was guitar that really called to him. Largely self taught, much of his early understanding of the guitar came from listening to the radio and records of that era and playing along. A notable early experience that shaped Roger’s desire to make guitar his life long pursuit was being invited, at the age of 16, to play in his high school shop teachers VFW swing band playing oldies and standards. First off, it taught Roger that all music was valid and that somewhere, somehow, music touches us all. Secondly, that it was an absolute blast making music with other musicians, regardless of their background (or age!).

Early in his life Roger had an encounter with God that planted the seeds of his future. Though he fell away from spiritual issues through his teens, at the age of 20 it all came back around and Roger chose to rededicate his life to Jesus. Feeling the move of the Holy Spirit he sold of all his musical gear and found himself with a lone acoustic guitar. God used that guitar and that time to teach Roger about the heart of worship and how to really use the guitar to glorify him.

Since then Roger has expanded the art of worship using electric guitar as well as acoustic and strives to connect to people and create an atmosphere of worship through guitar regardless of the venue. He is oft quoted as saying “I’m just the guitar player” but we that know him understand that there’s a depth of meaning behind that statement that transcends its simplicity.
